Someone once told me that I was like a Swiss Army Knife of content marketing because of the breadth of skills and experience I have. However, I’ve often likened myself to the IKEA of marketing, except I don’t require instructions and take far less time to put together and become functional. Ironically, one of my first jobs, as a teenager, was putting together furniture at an elementary school. Fast-forward a decade later, and on the first day of my first full-time writing job, I was promoted to editor, and the rest, as they say, is history. I’ve enjoyed a thriving career as a content marketer, photographer, and writer, currently calling Portland, Oregon home.
I’m incredibly grateful that the decade since that first writing job has been full of incredible work opportunities and experiences, from writing and shooting photos for publications like the Los Angeles Times and Travel + Leisure to developing award-winning marketing campaigns for Expedia to brand ambassadorship for companies like Vail Resorts and Anheuser-Busch to producing podcasts to writing press releases, commercial video scripts, case studies, ads, website copy, and more. I’ve lived and worked all up and down the West Coast (and around the world) as a content strategist, writer, and photographer, however, Portland, Oregon is where I now call home. Whether you’re a Portland small business or brand, or further afield, I’d love to hear from you (you can email me at spencer at spencerspellman.com). Below, get a little taste of my work.
